Weathering the storm was just the beginning for the people of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. Just a few short weeks after Hurricane Helene tore through the small community of Bat Cave, we-The Ope Squad were there providing relief in whatever ways we could. We knew this was just a drop in the bucket compared to what these people need. They are 7 months in and many families are still displaced, homes are damaged beyond repair, and communities are struggling to rebuild their lives.

While we have made a strong start, the journey ahead requires ongoing support, resources for long-term recovery, mental health services, and rebuilding efforts that restore hope and stability.
